WIth six Toronto Music awards and hundreds of song placements in television and film under her belt, Clara Lofaro is redefining what it means to be a pop singer and in-demand songwriter. Lofaro, whose career began as the featured soloist in her local church and community theater, has broken new ground and reached new highs with the release of her five song EP, MORE THAN I AM.

Raised by Italian immigrants, Clara interned at a recording studio in her native Toronto before relocating to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music. Anxious to sink her teeth into the New York City music scene, Clara completed her four year degree in 2 years.

New York City’s energy and power were the perfect compliment for Clara’s pure talent and fierce drive. She has performed alongside Stevie Nicks, Edwin McCain, Kimberly Locke, and Jeffrey Gaines and was the vocalist in the Disney Super Bowl commercial singing, "When You Wish Upon a Star" featuring MVP players of the NFL team.

“Effortlessly blends her soulful singing with fun, poppy tunes” -TIME OUT, NEW YORK

Performing throughout the world with her band and as a solo artist, Lofaro’s Songstress Pop captures her unique take on her generation, while paying homage to the great songwriters she so admires.

“likened to that of Laura Nyro, Carole King and Annie Lennox”. - The Insider.

Clara’s ability to write hits, both for herself and others has proven successful again and again. American Idol finalist Erika Van Pelt released four of her songs, Maddy Ziegler (SIA) won Dance Moms to Clara’s passionate performance of, “Send Me A Lifeline”, and shows such as The Voice, The Tonight Show, Young & the Restless, American Idol and many more are using CL tunes as their backdrop. Vanity Fair Napkins chose Lofaro's single, “Just Smile” (from her Self Titled LP) as the theme song for their, “Wipe On A Smile” national commercial campaign. The commercial ran for four years. Her follow up single, “Born to Love You” hit #21 on Billboard’s Club Play chart.

After being offered a publishing deal with NYC’s indie label, Antifragile Music/Kobalt in 2018, Antifragile quickly followed with an EP deal being blown away by the music Clara was submitting. Lofaro and producer, Uri Kleinman (Martha Wash, Darlene Love) packed his LIC, Queens studio up driving cross country to LA to record, “More Than I Am” in January this year.

“The EP begins with NOMAD which is what I have felt like my whole life as an artist moving from place to place but also explores society and where our planet is headed. There is a theme throughout the EP of looking at life as bigger than the sum of my experiences. In seeing that, I find my place and the nomad in me sees I am more than I am to anyone or anything.”

MUTE heartily follows making you want to do a happy dance when you hear it, featuring Michael Weisberger (Celia Cruz, The Cleftones) on sax and Kleinman’s funky bass fills.

“Can’t Help Us is that moment of complete freedom you feel when you totally give up the need to save anyone. What happens is you end up saving yourself. We created most of the percussion on Can’t Help Us using the body of the guitar, and added groove in the back up vocals. We wanted it to feel light and floaty like the feeling of breaking free from anything that holds you back.”

A Juilliard orchestra soars on the EP favourite, STARS which opens with the vivid line, “Growing a garden, down in the basement/ Where there’s no sunlight to draw diamonds out of the dirt...” The song continues on in this vivid display of being trapped in our own world while life is exploding around us, trying desperately to capture the beauty. The song screams movie soundtrack.

A powerfully encouraging artist, she ends the 5 song EP with MORE THAN I AM . Clara wrote the title track years ago and performed it at a single show during a residency at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC. Since that performance, fans have been requesting a live recording and she delivers it with a Joni Mitchell-esque acoustic guitar arrangement accompanied by Juilliard string quartet.

Clara Lofaro thrives by bringing her courageous vulnerability to the polished pop arena. It’s a beautiful tone and message you don’t want to be without.
